First CACAO Hackathon
- Place
- at Edwin's place
- Date
beginning of May (became end of May)
- Connectivity
WLAN, LAN, (NAT was added)
Aims
- Get as much of the JOnAS test suite to work as possible.
(Became releasing CACAO 0.96.)
Participants
- c_u
- Edwin
- twisti
Results
Unfortunately the meeting was too short to be called a hackathon, but there were some productive results:
- Edwin found and fixed an ugly bug concerning field alignment (spotted by twisti in the tgolem results).
- twisti and Edwin tried Eclipse 3.2RC6 and Jonas successfully with the release candidate CACAO in several configurations.
CACAO 0.96 released
- Edwin wrote an in-process compiler adaptor for GNU Classpath RMIC, which twisti tested successfully.
- twisti implemented a new option for the boot classpath.
- c_u learned the hard way, why twisti and Edwin always preach: "Commit your code!
Commit your code! COMMIT YOUR CODE!"
- c_u started to look at the class numbering code. Probably some detailed profiling will be the best way to approach this problem.
- Edwin started to implement the new instruction format. He badly needed the hackathon for building up enough motivation to start this huge effort.
(Please keep me motivated, guys!
)
Lessons for the next hackathon
We need much more time than the 10 hours we had this time.
Network setup should be completed before the meeting.
- c_u and Edwin are bad proof readers for release announcements.
c_u and twisti want their rice "al dente", these would-be gourmets, grrrr.
